A NEW ERA FOR CHARLES HOUSE

The Charles House Association board of directors announced the appointment of Dean Fox as the new Executive Director of Charles House Association.

After 20 years of successfully leading Charles House, Paul Klever is retiring as of May 1, 2024.

Dean started at Charles House as a UNC student volunteer fourteen years ago. In the intervening years, Dean has served in various capacities, growing into the role of Associate Director and Administrator of the Eldercare Home.  The board enthusiastically welcomes Dean into this new leadership role and is confident in his ability to continue Charles House’s legacy of excellence into this new era.

The board also acknowledges with appreciation Paul’s 20 years of leadership, including pioneering neighborhood Eldercare Homes, expansion into the Center for Community Eldercare, establishment of the Bradley Program in Learning & Service, guiding the organization through the uncertainty of the pandemic,  and leaving Charles House Association a strong and sustainable nonprofit organization.

“My wife has enjoyed Charles House and I firmly believe that it has helped her considerably.  It is a real lifesaver for me, as well, and has permitted me to keep her at home so we can continue to share our long life together. The staff is extra ordinary examples of care and thoughtfulness. What a wonderful atmosphere permeates the entire setting. It is like a family.”

“I am grateful for the improvement I have seen in my Mom. She is much happier, more independent and her cognitive powers have greatly improved. Even her memory has improved. We are all much happier.”

“I can’t say enough good things about Charles House. Every community should have one.”
